IF WE'RE TALKING BIBLE.....
USA Today reported President Obama stating this about people opposed to Syrian refugees coming to America.
"Apparently, they’re scared of widows and orphans coming into the United States of America as part of our tradition of compassion."
This I what I think:
1. Should we be involved? Yes, because God has blessed us with liberty. We should give what good has been given to us. We also fought for that liberty. We should empower others and teach others likewise.
2. Any instability or stability in the earth that involves or revolves around our enemies or allies we should be engaged with because what happens around the world sends ripple effects across the earth to the homeland. It will eventually catch up to us. It's best to be ahead of the curve.
3. Obama used a common biblical theme that is laced through the bible of "widows & orphans." I believe he did this to try and frame what he believes is true compassion for the USA. I believe he silently implied this as the compassion of the bible as well. He used "biblical language" and he knew he was using "biblical language." Paring those 2 together "widows & orphans" is a biblical tradition much more then it is an American tradition. He knew what he was saying.
4. The bible is clear that we are to defend, vindicate, execute justice, clothe, feed, and love (bible is clear that perfect love drives out fear) the orphan, alien, and widow.
5. Opening our boarders "in this manner" in the USA does not defend them, vindicate them, or execute justice for them. We can feed them, clothe them, create safe zones for them, and drive out terrorism or fearism through prefect love over there. Love is more powerful then fear. Love will cause one to madly purse the enemy to protect those they love. Love protects. Defending, executing justice, and vindicating these people happens when we take a "dominant role over there." There is no defense by just letting them come here. The best defense is defense.
6. The option really is "Refugees come here or our military goes there." Sending our military there to defend, execute justice, vindicate, feed, clothe, and protect in the power of love is a more biblical approach.
7. If we were harbor anyone in the USA we should only harbor women and children that are under military fighting age. The men can stay to be trained in battle and fight for their liberty just like we have. The men can fight with our troops and allies and be trained in battle. That would be the deal. Take it our leave it. Send your women and children and stay and fight or nothing. If we are going to send our husbands, fathers, and sons then they need to leave theirs. Just like our military women would be welcome to enlist and with there women would have the option to enlist and fight. For the men it would be mandatory, for the women, especially the widows, and children it would be optional.
Psalms 82:3
Defend the poor and the fatherless. Vindicate the afflicted and the poor.
Isa 1:17
Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow
Deut 10:18
"He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing.
Psalm 146:9
The LORD protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked.
